I am. Hi, my name is Steve Metzger and I would like to tell you a bit about my background in modeling. I do so with the hope that it will instill in you the confidence in me to purchase my products and/or commission my building services.
At this time I am 61 years old and have been building models since age 8. In the early days it was Rubber Powered Airplanes and Small Control Line (1/2 A) Airplanes mostly. I also started to develop an interest in boats and built many small boats, hydro-planes and the like. I progressed through larger Control Line Stunt and Combat Models as I got a bit older. I remember well the day my Dad bought me a new Fox .29 engine. That was a real "RED LETTER DAY" for a fifth grader. As I recall the price was $14.95, we should be so lucky today.
As a young Airman in the USAF, I found the dry lakes around Reno, NV a great place to fly free flight, mostly 1/2 A Scale Models. A few bucks worth of sticks, tissue, dope, a $5.00 engine and modeling fit well into my base pay of around $80.00/ mo. During this time I really developed my building skills so that after the accumulation of a few stripes on my arm, I was well equipped to enter the world of Radio Control. Like most modelers, in those days, I matriculated through escapement equipped single channel, to digital proportional radios, pattern flying, and on to my favorite, Pylon Racing. I have been active in Pylon Racing since 1970 and have participated in just about every variation of that event from Formula I to the current "Adrenalin Rush" of QM-40. I don't race as often as I once did and pretty much get my "doors blown off" today, but it is still fun.
So why is a guy like me trying to make $$ in a cottage business like this? Simple really, I have had some medical problems that have negatively affected my livelihood of selling large Powerboats and Motor Yachts. See, that boat thing is still with me. I have always liked to build and tinker. My college degree is in Industrial Education, kind of a natural for a modeler.
The Products and Services pages of this site will outline what I have to sell. I am always open to contracting something different, so don't hesitate to contact me if you want a 1/4 scale Chris Craft or Gold Cup Racer powerboat or a Scale Model of the first airplane you ever flew in for your desk or den.
Thanks for visiting my site,
